To install the Entrenify app on a phone you do not need to search the App Store or Google Play: it is a web app that you add to the home screen from the browser. On Android it is done from Chrome and on iPhone from Safari, following the official help of each. The most practical approach is to do it with your client in front of you on the day you sign them up, after they have chosen their password.

A web app, not a store app

Entrenify is installed as a web app from the browser; there is no app on the App Store or Google Play. For your client that means they do not have to look for anything in any store: they open the app's address on their phone and add it to their home screen.

Once added, it has its own icon. The English version of Google Chrome's help sums it up like this: you can use web apps “to have a website work as an app and access it on your computer or mobile devices through the Launcher or home screen”.

For you, there is one practical consequence: it is worth showing them how to install it on the first day, because nobody will come across it in a store by chance.

Before installing: access

The app is used with the client's account, so they must first have it active:

  1. You register them with their name and email, and an invitation reaches them.
  2. They open the link and choose their own password: you neither choose it nor see it.
  3. With their email and password to hand, they can now install the app and log in.

The invitation link is single-use and expires after 72 hours. If they miss it, you send another from their record and the previous one stops working. How all this fits into their first week is covered in registering a new client.

Installing it on Android, with Chrome

The official Google Chrome help (English version) explains how to install a web app on an Android phone:

  1. “On your Android device, open Chrome”.
  2. “Go to a website with a web app that you want to install”: here, app.entrenify.com.
  3. “On the right of the address bar, tap More” and then “Install and create shortcut” and “Install”.
  4. “Follow the on-screen instructions”.

Menu names may change with browser updates. If you cannot find them, the reference is the Google Chrome help (in Spanish).

Installing it on iPhone, with Safari

The official Apple help (English version) explains how to turn a website into an app in Safari on iPhone:

  1. “Go to the Safari app on your iPhone” and “Go to the website”: here, app.entrenify.com.
  2. Tap the page menu button and then Share. “If your Tabs layout is Bottom or Top”, tap the Share button directly; Apple's help shows each button with its image.
  3. “Scroll down the list of options, then tap Add to Home Screen”.
  4. “Turn on Open as Web App. Tap Add”.

If the option does not appear, Apple says: “If you don’t see Add to Home Screen, you can add it. Scroll down to the bottom of the list, tap Edit Actions” and then Add to Home Screen. And it adds that, when you tap the icon, “the website opens just like an app”.

The steps may vary with the system version. The reference is the Apple help (in Spanish).

Phone notifications

With the app on their phone, your client can receive notifications when you send them a new plan, when you ask for their check-in or when you share a document with them, as well as reminders of their appointments.

Phone notifications are optional: they reach them if they turn them on in their app. On iPhone, the Apple help says that, with the site added as a web app, “You can receive notifications from the web app and quit the web app like you would any app”.

Notifications carry no health data – they say that something new is there and the content is seen inside the app, once they are logged in.

If something does not work first time

  • The invitation does not arrive: ask them to check their spam folder. If it has expired, send them another from their record.
  • They cannot find the install option: ask them to follow the official help for their browser; the Apple steps above are for Safari.
  • They have forgotten their password: from their record you send them a link to choose a new one, which expires after two hours. You do not see the new one either.
  • They change phone: ask them to repeat the installation on the new one and log in again with their email and password.

How Entrenify handles it

  • Web app: it is installed as a web app (PWA) from the browser; there is no app on the App Store or Google Play.
  • Opens in the right place: the installed app opens straight onto the dashboard, without going through any landing page.
  • Access by invitation: from their record, the same button creates their access and sends the invitation, resends it if they have not yet used it or sends them a link to change their password if they already have an account. In no case do you choose or see their password.
  • What they find inside: the client's app has “Hoy” (Today), “Progreso” (Progress), “Dieta” (Diet), “Agenda” (Schedule), “Documentos” (Documents), “Chat” and “Perfil” (Profile).
  • Notifications without health data – it notifies them by email and, if they want, on their phone, with no weights, measurements or diets in the message.
  • For you too: if you install it on your phone, it opens on your trainer dashboard.

What it does not do: there is no app in the stores and it does not send notifications by WhatsApp or SMS. What your client sees when they open the app and how to get them to keep using it is covered in the app for your clients. The rest of the product is on the Entrenify home page (in Spanish).
